Class of 2024

David Gomez, MD

Hometown: Miami, FL

Undergrad: Florida International University

Medical School: Florida International University

Academic Interests: Ultrasound, Sports Medicine

Why Sinai: It’s the best program in South Florida, and Dr. Dalley (our PD) really made an impact during the interview.

Fun Fact: I’ve played the guitar really badly for 20 years now, and I have a cat named Kiki.

Ramses Perez, MD

Hometown: Miami, FL

Undergrad: Florida International University

Medical School: Florida International University

Academic Interests: Sports Medicine, Ultrasound

Why Sinai: I had no intention of leaving South Florida and that made my decision a lot easier, limiting me to a handful (big handful) of programs. I rotated here as a student and that reaffirmed my decision to choose this place as my desired training program. The ED facility and location are absolutely beautiful. The resident culture is laid back but also hard working. The attendings, administration, and staff put residents' education first. Lastly, I knew the volume, procedural skills, and resident autonomy would prepare me to care for patients efficiently and safely at any community hospital my first day as an attending.

Fun Fact: If eating BBQ was a sport, then consider me an athlete.

Tatiana Nunez, MD

Hometown: Miami, FL

Undergrad: Florida International University

Medical School: Ross University School of Medicine

Academic Interests: Critical care, U/S, Medical education, Early Obstetrics and Gynecology

Why Sinai: Let me just tell you, I feel so blessed to be here. I needed an organized structure, consistency, and support where I could achieve my full potential. High acuity and patient volume with an abundance of procedures for all. Sinai produces the best competent ER Physicians. Along with becoming proficient in a community setting, you’ll have the full support from our knowledgeable faculty if pursuing academics is your thing. Our PD (Dr. Dalley) and APD (Dr. Golden) are the real dynamic duo, since your first day they’re actively involved with your academics, well being and your professional growth. Life as a resident is challenging, however, you’ll still have the flexibility and opportunity to pursue your desired leisure activities. I am confident you’ll have the best experience! Hope to see you soon!

Fun Fact: I am a mother of two beautiful girls!

Luis Puron, DO

Hometown: Miami, FL

Undergrad: Florida International University

Medical School: Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine - Georgia Campus

Academic Interests: Community Medicine

Why Sinai: Because this program has a track record of producing top-tier ED docs that excel in the community. The faculty are always supportive, and there is a culture of close mutual support amongst all staff in the ED, not just the physicians. Residents are close-knit and always have my back. This is a high acuity, high volume ED with plenty of procedures to go around. Lastly, Miami is home for me, and there is alway something fun to do here. I couldn't ask for anything else. I love it here!

Fun Fact: I love the outdoors: fishing, hiking, boating, running, the beach, you name it. I played basketball all throughout middle and high school. I also love to read and have made it a point to read one book a month for years.

Christopher Raciti, MD

Hometown: Miller Place, NY

Undergrad: Washington University in St. Louis

Medical School: Renaissance SOM at Stony Brook University

Academic Interests: EMS, Medical Education

Why Sinai: This program has incredibly supportive faculty who are always willing to teach and genuinely want to see the residents succeed. Also, Dr. Dalley (our PD) is definitely the nicest person you will ever meet, and it is clear that he cares about each and every resident and is extremely responsive to feedback. Finally, after coming from the Northeast, I'm excited to no longer have to shovel snow off my car.

Fun Fact: I've been on over 15 cruises throughout my life, so it only made sense to do residency in Miami, where the cruise port is 5 minutes away. I'm also a big Yankees fan and played baseball throughout middle and high school.

Alejandro Sanoja, MD

Hometown: Bedford, MA

Undergrad: University of Florida

Medical School: University of Arizona

Academic Interests: Sports Medicine, Ultrasound

Why Sinai: This program checked all my boxes. I wanted to be at a strong program in South Florida. Ours is a long-standing program with a strong alumni network. Graduates are prepared to pursue community work or a variety of fellowships. The chair, program director, and core faculty are incredibly supportive, leaders in the field, and fun to hang out with. Finally, I love Miami-- 305 till I die! Catch me at the beach/bay after work or fishing at South Pointe.

Fun Fact: At the age of 27, I can still dunk a basketball.

Luke Weber, MD

Hometown: Cincinnati, OH

Undergrad: University of Akron

Medical School: Northeast Ohio Medical University

Academic Interests: Medical Education, Trauma, EMS

Why Sinai: Can’t say enough good things about our PD Dr. Dalley. His passion for this program and his welcoming spirit was a refreshing experience during my interview trail so he was a big factor in our program being high on my rank list. Additionally, our department is owned by us so we rarely consult other specialties to come do procedures in our department. Many EM programs battle constantly with other services such as general surgery, orthopedics, or anesthesia for procedures. We almost have none of that conflict. We also rotate through some of the highest quality medical facilities in the nation like Ryder Trauma Center and Nicklaus Children's. Lastly, our program has been around for a long time so the alumni network is extensive, giving you plenty of open doors for your next steps beyond residency.

Fun Fact: I won 2nd place in my weight class at the Cleveland Area Golden Gloves 2019 sub-novice boxing tournament…the 1st place winner broke my nose.

Academic Interests: Critical Care, toxicology, neurology

Why Sinai: I had the best experience rotating here as a medical student. I saw that the attendings were at the top of their game and genuinely love to teach. We also get to do all of our own procedures without any other specialties trying to take them. Sinai has a uniquely diverse patient population and we see patients from all over the world on a daily basis. Our program core faculty are incredibly helpful, and they do an outstanding job of getting us prepared for caring for complex, critical patients, as well as for our boards. Plus, you can’t beat the location, and the ED is brand new and absolutely gorgeous. Everyone I’ve met loves being here… It’s good vibes all around.

Why Sinai: I love the hospital and the location. The beach is minutes away from the hospital and a wonderful place to decompress. Fun Fact:

Daniel Aloise, MD

Hometown: Palm City, FL

Undergrad: UF (Go Gators)

Med School: FIU

Academic Interests: Admin (likely pursuing MBA), Leadership (thru EMRA), Ultrasound

Why Sinai: I chose Sinai because it offered the best and most established emergency medicine residency training in south Florida and is paired with people who make this a truly welcoming environment. Starting at the top with Dr. Dalley and continuing with so many of our knowledgeable and passionate faculty, residents who I immediately formed strong bonds with, and to the relationships with other staff at the hospital - especially the nurses - it is rare to see a group that works so well together. I see nurses, faculty, and residents alike constantly having each others' backs and having a great time both on shift and outside the hospital. My mentors couldn't speak highly enough of Dr. Dalley and the training each resident leaves Sinai with, and I have already seen this firsthand with the incredible senior residents I strive to one day become - running the floors like veterans in just 2 short years. From an extremely diverse patient population to top notch trauma training at Ryder Trauma center to a beautiful new emergency department in the city of Miami Beach... I feel very confident I made the right choice with Sinai.

Fun Fact: My party trick was jumping into a full split... until I tore my hamstring. I have an autograph / sports memorabilia business on the side and am an award-winning poet. Love staying active with sports including golf, basketball and pickleball.

Our core faculty, and especially our PD Dr. Dalley, are so sincere, dedicated to teaching, and establish a healthy work culture.
